Dr. David Drassner is a NYS Licensed Psychologist in independent practice in Rockland County, N.Y. where his practice encompasses such areas as crisis intervention, resiliency-focused therapy, adolescent/school concerns, individual/family counseling, school/agency consultation, employee assistance consultation, substance abuse, and professional development seminars. Dr. Drassner is the President of the Rockland Resiliency Institute-a consultation practice providing professional development and consultation to clinicians, professional associations, schools, businesses, and community groups on maximizing human potential and coping with varied life challenges and transitions. He has also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Doctoral Practicum Supervisor in the Department of Counseling and Clinical Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University as well as a consultant for the Teachers College Center for Educational Outreach and Innovation.. From 1986-July, 2002, Dr. Drassner served as the Clinical Supervisor of Psychologists for the Bronx High Schools as well as the Director of the Bronx High Schools Crisis Response Team. In this role, he supervised and trained clinicians and administrators in responding to crisis incidents such as suicides, homicides and intergroup conflicts. As the Clinical Supervisor for the Bronx High Schools Clinical Services Unit, he also supervised psychologists serving on the Committee on Special Education.

Dr. Drassner is a Past President of the Rockland County Psychological Society and is currently the Chair of the Continuing Education and Clinical Divisions. He has served on the Executive Board of the Clinical Division of the New York State Psychological Association and is currently the Rockland Regional Coordinator of the NYSPA Disaster Response Network. Other association affiliations include Rockland Representative to the Psychologists for Legislative Action in New York(PLANY). Dr. Drassner is a member of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology as well as a broad range of professional organizations. Additional professional experience has encompassed counseling roles in the Odyssey House psychiatric drug-free therapeutic community and the Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital(106M) school-based program for adolescents as well as teaching positions at the elementary, intermediate, and high school levels.

Academic appointments have included faculty positions as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Graduate Division of the Long Island University Department of Counseling and Development, and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology-Yeshiva University, Teachers College, Columbia University, Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York, and SUNY Empire State College.

Dr. Drassner has served as a consultant/panel psychologist to a broad range of health maintenance organizations, employee assistance programs, and state agencies such as Workers Compensation and Vocational Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID). Dr. Drassner has also served as a consultant/trainer for a collaborative trauma training program of
Project Liberty, the NYS Department of Mental Health, and the New York State Psychological Association. He is also a training consultant for the Rockland County Addiction Counselors Training program for Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselors.
Dr. Drassner earned a Ph.D in Counseling Psychology from New York University, and an M.Ed in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. He has a Masters Degree in Education and a Bachelor of Arts from Hunter College of the City University of New York.

Dr. Drassner has presented on such topics as (a) establishing and implementing a crisis response team;
(b) resiliency-focused therapy; (c) fostering psychological resiliency; (d) attention-deficit disorder; (e) violence prevention; and (f) interventions for at-risk youth. Professional seminars have been conducted for such agencies/organizations as the New York City Board of Education, American Federation of Teachers, United Federation of Teachers(UFT), Council of School Supervisors and Administrators(CSA), Pleasantville, Clarkstown, Sewanhaka, and East Ramapo School Districts, BOCES, American Psychological Association, New York State Psychological Association, New York State Counseling Association, Puerto Rico Psychological Association, Westchester, Suffolk, and Rockland County Psychological Associations, Interfaith Medical Center, Rockland Council on Alcoholism, Four Winds Hospital, Kingsboro Psychiatric Center, Rockland County Department of Mental Health, Project Liberty, New Jersey Department of Mental Health, Mental Health Association of Rockland County, Veterans Administration, and university graduate programs in counseling, education, and psychology.

Dr. Drassner has been interviewed by the print and television media on topics relating to resiliency and crisis intervention.
A major professional interest includes a resiliency-based approach to crisis, counseling, education, and consultation.
