Louis J. Mader is currently the Director of Public Safety at Hunter College, an urban institution of higher learning with five campuses located throughout the borough of Manhattan.

He has been the college’s Public Safety Director since 2001 and his experiences range from working through the different ranks of officer in a municipal police department, and onward to the upper levels of management where he became responsible for supervising and guiding other law enforcement personnel. His varied experiences have helped shape his leadership style, which fosters forward thinking and teamwork among his employees.

He has had training in all aspects of Law Enforcement on the Federal, State, and Municipal levels, and has attended Law Enforcement and Executive Development courses given by the Federal Bureau of Investigations. He attends numerous Administrative and Executive training courses given by the New Jersey State Troopers as well as many course and conferences on Personnel Management hosted by the International Association for the Chiefs of Police.

Louis Mader is a Navy Veteran, who served during the Vietnam War. After leaving the military, he earned his Bachelor Degree and certification in Public Administration. He is married and the proud father of a son and daughter both of whom will graduate this spring. His son Tyler will be graduating from high school, and his daughter Caitlin will be graduating from college. Louis’s hobbies include golf, hiking, and saltwater fishing along the North Carolina Coast.
