Mr. William Whisenhunt is currently an Assistant Professor at Nevada State College-Henderson teaching in the Bachelor of Applied Science Criminal Justice Program. He brings with him 40 plus years of broad based experience in the Justice System.
He retired as a Sergeant from a major law enforcement organization in Southern California in 1985, after 20 years of active police service. There he worked various assignments including: patrol, accident investigation, detectives, narcotics, Metropolitan Division (The Chief’s Crime Task Force), personnel and numerous other supervisory and administrative assignments.
Mr. Whisenhunt is a former Professor for Fullerton Community College where he taught California Criminal Law and arrest, search and seizure. He taught Criminal Justice courses at two other colleges, one where he was the Criminal Justice Program Manager. He also taught Homeland Security courses and Paralegal Studies.
He was a former instructor at three Police Academies and taught a variety of law and criminal justice related classes to supervisors and managers during in-service schools. He made presentations to a number of law enforcement organizations during their training sessions.
Mr. Whisenhunt has trial experience in both State and Federal Court. He practiced law in California, Texas and the Republic of Palau as a Special Prosecutor. He was a litigator and trial lawyer.
As a former Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney III in the Police Defense Litigation Unit, he successfully defended 42 USC 1983 Civil
