Frank Zenere is a school psychologist and crisis management specialist for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the nation’s fourth largest district, serving over 340,000 students. He is a native of Miami, Florida and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Florida International University. Frank has spent the last 15 years as a full time member of his district’s Student Services Crisis Team, responding to over 600 student fatalities and 350 faculty deaths. Frank has served on numerous state committees overseeing the development of school safety policies and procedures, and best practice guidelines for the prevention of, preparedness for, response to, and recovery from critical incidents and disasters impacting school communities. Frank has also been active as a trainer and crisis responder at the state, national and international levels. He has conducted crisis management workshops in over 35 states and eight foreign countries. Frank has provided crisis response services in the aftermath of earthquakes in Turkey and El Salvador, the tsunami in Sri Lanka, numerous hurricanes and tornadoes, the September 11, 2001 Terrorist attack on New York City, several school shootings, and youth suicide clusters. He is a volunteer member of the National Organization for Victim Assistance, where he holds certification as a national crisis responder and trainer. Frank was a 10 year member and former chairperson of the National Association of School Psychologists, National Emergency Assistance Team. He has written numerous articles for newsletters and journals regarding his expertise and experiences, and has appeared on various television programs. Frank has been the recipient of several state and national awards in recognition of his contributions to the field of school and community crisis management
